Any idea the difference between automatic and and manual transmission oil? As i can see from the description, both can be use as power steering and differential fluid.

What gonna happen is automatic tranmission oil been put in to a manual gearbox?

Cheers!

you mean in a 206 or what?

some manual transmittion gearbox use ATF, some even use engine oil. you need to check the manual.

But in general ATF is lighter/ thinner than MTF. wrong grade of oil in gearbox will just destroy your box.

There is a big difference!! ATF is designed for autos as it deals with alot more working parts and often higher temps. manual oil comes in different weights, like engine oil, depending on what its going in, ie a diff or manual cog box, if oil is too thin or thick damage will occur and things then break:)

I've never used manual gear oil in power steering nor heard of people doing it, it will cause bother im sure

If in doubt, drop a cog and put your foot down Smile
