Been thinking last night about the future of my gti, i.e. don't spend anymore on it except refurbing the wheels

the reason;
to save up for a 180 with plans on a supercharger conversion

the downside;
wages from work is less than £750 before bills not leaving much until next payday, also just started a new relationship and i think us guys will know thats expensive too lol

will not take out any loans or credit cards to buy the car plus i'd be looking at very low milage 180's so may need up to around 4500 for a very tidy low milage example

I very much doubt I would get even £2000 for my gti even with the cambelt only just being replaced 4 wks ago and with a few tasty mods

All the above could result in it being a year + before finally buying a 180 Sad

£750 a week or month?
This 206 IS going on a trackday despite it's every effort to stay at home in the garage!

Why don't you just make your gti faster? It's a good platform to start with and would surely cost you less whichever way you look at it? Maybe go for a drastic new change in style? That what I'm doing with mine, just slowly modify it until, would ideally like to reach 180bhp or there abouts then leave it, but it's up to you at the end of the day mate

that is another option mate but my car is nearly at 81,000 miles and is nearly 12 years old so trying to make it faster may not do the engine any good without doing an engine transplant which will probably cost alot

Why not just sell it and buy a car that's already fast (Seat Leon Cupra R etc). You won't get back half of what you spend on a supercharger conversion and possible reliability issues.

At the risk of setting off the naysayers you can get a 'very tidy low milage example' for around £3k.

You would be upgrading alot in the engine bay anyway and if it's all done properly it shouldnt harm the engine should it?
