ok i have the 05 plate 206 1.6 16v tu5jp4 engine in my 206 and there is this annoying ticking noise at idle but the minute i put a bit of throttle on it goes away. it seems more like a bottom end noise rather that valve train noise. i have checked oil pump and chain and they are fine. another annoying thing after letting it run for a bit it goes away. and when starting the car it deosnt make the noise straight away , it kinda come in slowley getting louder . iv ran the car for about 6000 miles with this and its not had any issues but i need to get rid of the noise before i sell it.
i had a thought about mabay timing belt and tensioners ?
any help or ideas are much appreciated or if anyone has had the same problem .
thanx martin

Possibly a hydraulic tappet causing the noise, nothing to worry about if left, sometimes an oil change will help to quieten it.

Revving the engine will increase the oil pressure in the tappet which makes the noise go away.
