Yes. Plus it's illegal to drive with them on if not in foggy conditions.

Also, why would you wire them up to your side lights? It's not much hassle to twist the switch for the sidelights then twist the wee switch for the fogs.

I believe it is a £30 fixed penalty at the moment for driving with your fog lights on in conditions that do not warrant it

Nah just a fixed penalty, same as not wearing a seat belt or dodgy number plate

What about putting sidelights in your foglights? I know someone on here has done this.

All depends on the markings on the lights, I believe 206 fog lights are marked for fog use using some code.

You could put SMD H1s in your fog lights and wire them to the side lights. People are correst in saying it is a fied penalty for driving with them on, but that is if they are auxillary lights, if they come on with the same switch as the side lights, they are no longer classed as auxilary lights. As SMD aren't as bright you could use them as running lights and not need to alter the wiring as they only draw a small current. There is no MOT requirement for front fog lights as they are not covered by the vehicle lighting regulations, so in theory they don't need to work. I do agree that cars driving roind with their fogs on look pretty daft. I would go for som e of the Prism LED running lights and put them inside the headlamp units if that's the look you're after. You could drill a hole on the fog light and fit a push type 501 connector. IMO this would give a much nicer effect.
