my son recently got himself a 307 rapier 1.6, its been running fine for a month, but this week decided to play up.

what is happening is when driving, the car will begin to hessitate, big drop in power ( around 20 mph full excelleration) or even just cut out altogether.
the engine management light will be lit up once this all happens.

... the car would then need around 10-15 mins before it will start again, and run for around 5-10 miles before repeat of the above problems.

the car has been back to the garage , and they said it was the coil pack and they replaced it .. 3 days later, and the problem has returned.

its going back in again on tuesday, but is there anything else that could cause these issues so i can question whether they have checked everything or just guessing.

edit: warning showing "catalic converter fault"

cheers lee.

funnily enough, when it was taken in to be checked , it was one day out of warranty.. but they was gonna honour the coil pack anyway.
.... also loaned him a replacement motor too.

seems to me that its possible the sensors are arsing up due to vibration.

what do you think?

.... oh and on a sidenote, how much for a reading or two , postcode is st14 5nw Wink

Warranty expired on 17/09/2004 unless it was renewed after.

Yeah does seem like a sensor, maybe the MAP or the TPS not detecting the accelerator.

About £55, that would include traveling to yours, code reading both cars, changing any options in the cars and coding any keys you want doing. I've based it on the fuel cost [3 hour round trip], and buy one get one half price on the code reading, etc

Ahh thats about half an hour away or so. Might get some code reading done! I think Brian is choking for a BSI update too seeing as his keeps spazzing out but he doesn't wanna pay dealership prices. Not too sure if I want the scare of a code reading done really though Laughing
