You'll know yourself what it's like when you stand back and you're beginning to feel happier about how the car looks. This was a mint car when i bought it, i've just went a tad OTT but it's made a big difference i have to say.

Well i had a wee day off today!

I finally fitted a plastic cam belt cover!

I then set about cleaning the arches and i was also going to drill holes in the arch to take the new cd changer but it started raining so i only managed to clean one arch and the changer is still in its box Sad

Still! It's good progress and it's looking muchos better!

Oh i hoovered the interior yesterday too so it's looking better.

But nope, not finished! Still need to:

- Do something with the leather. What though i don't know as my leather care colour restoring balm was a waste of money - it's actually made it lighter so i'll need to scrub it off with leather cleaner.
- Clean the other 3 arches
- Fit CD changer
- Spruce up engine bay
- Polish and wax it (i might need to do some of this in the lock-up with this weather, even though it's a bit tight for space in there)
- See if i can hide the corrosion with chrome vinyl and fathom out whether it would look crap or not!
- Check oil and top it up or i'll do a full change if i find the time/weather/sump plug key!
- Make my stone chip mask for the bonnet.

Other things i want to do but i'll do for pugfest hopefully
- Spray the rear disc protectors silver
- Mix up some zinc-coloured paint for the calipers.
- Paint the accelerator pedal black again, which was a good suggestion by stufarri on PSOOC! Very Happy I have paint lying around to do this i think anyway Smile

I'll always find something to do...

Unfortunately no more work got done today due to crappy weather and i got called in for more overtime today after being told i was 5-8 i got 2hrs notice to do 2.30-8. MINCE. I might have to clean the arches in the rain with a big jacket on!

Well the CD changer is now in!

Well stufarri's suggestions on PSOOC got out of hand! Painting the calipers and the disc protectors made the rest look a bit naff so for a few quid extra and some extra time i painted the more visible suspension parts. Whilst de-greasing/de-rusting and kurusting the suspension components i also managed to clean up the handbrake cable components, and i lightly sanded the brake lines to bring back the lovely copper gleam! The calipers themselves - ie the the bit that's shown silver and not the pad holders - have not been painted at all and have just been degreased using Bilt Hamber Surfex HD which brought them back to silver again which made things easier in that area Very Happy

Yes mixing up the zinc-effect paint using hammerite paint was a horrendous job, but soooooo worth it! Also i realise I am missing a disc protector, this is because it's still in the garage as it's needing a rub down because the paint ran and it takes forever to dry hard so i've not been able to rub it down, re-spray and fit it.

Tomorrow morning (if i get up in plenty of time before work) I will sand down the driver's side disc protector, re-spray it, wait till it's touch dry and fit it. Stick the wheels back on and remove the front wheels. Degrease the calipers etc etc and paint them. I can't remember what it's like behind there so i'll be sure to take some before and after pics. I don't think it's too bad at all though Smile

I got started on the front arch areas tonight... Smile

When i started:

 


After a good de-grease/clean!

 


And some paint here and there...

 


 


I don't really know if i want to paint anything else in this area really, So i might just do the lower side of the spring holder as you can see it if you get on your knee's and look about! So just that and maybe one or two wee other bits but for now i think it's fine with just the bits shown painted up Smile

I couldn't help myself could I....

Painted: Spring seat in black and the spring itself in a colour i created by accident but thought it looked nicer than painting the spring black too.

I also gave the other metal pieces that you can't really see a very light coat of black just to freshen things up and to make the rest of the stuff look less crappy against what has actually been intended to be painted!

 


 


Does look fresher though Smile

Cheers dave but...silver mixed with gold for the even better win as it mimics new calipers' zinc coating when they're new Smile

I was torn between the sticker, there's actually more to it because it's the original shockie i think as it still had a very old peugeot bar code and feint part number on it. Laughing So i took the sticker off so that when i go OTT one day, i can get all the wee bar codes n what not. People stick them on the calipers and it looks pretty cool if you like that type of thing Laughing
