I see that 2002 onwards engines were fitted with an "automatic" tensioner.
What's the difference in the fitting procedure to the manual version outlined in the Haynes manual and the how-to on here. I assume fit belt, release tension, turn engine a couple of full rotations buy hand and check tension. But no adjustment as such?
Just had a spring loaded system that locks against a lug on the block. The arrow on the tensioner is aligned with the slot on the tensioner and job done.
The tensioner moves back and forward to apply the correct tension to the belt
