Right,
I have a particularly large sum of money coming into my bank account on friday and want to remap my car, however, at the minuet it is still all standard engine, air filter and exhaust. What I want is the most power but the same fuel consumption (i.e. 600 miles to a tank) Should I upgrade the exhaust system and air intake system? And would this affect fuel consumption or can I expect good results from just the standard in and out thats already on?

more likely make no difference on power with changing the air filter and exhuast

i;ve hollowed out the cat on mine and its made quite a difference to the throttle response and it tends to want to rev more freely, i imagine a remap would make this even more responsive with maybe a tad more power when you put your foot down

More power requires more fuel. That's how engines work.

Hi first post. I will be getting my wife a 1.4 HDI over the next couple of weeks. I have been looking at a Synergie 1 unit from tuning-diesels.com These units get a good report on the Rover Forum, cost about £170 and supposed to increase torque and reduce fuel consumption. Anybody fitted one of these?

Get her a bulletproof 2.0 hdi instead, there is a low tax bracket version that is the same to tax as a 1.4 but these are pretty rare.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I think I would sooner her have the 2.0 HDI as we do make several trips a year to France (650 miles each way and mainly motorway) and I was a little concerned it might be too much for a 1.4. Your views on this would be much appreciated.

The 2.0 HDI is a well proven bulletproof engine thats been around since the late 1990's thats easily able & proven to do 400K + miles if looked after.

2 known weak points that PSA Peugeot / Citroen have fixed with modified parts.

The bottom crank pulley.

The engine cover clip.

Also whatever you do, dont put petrol in a hdi engine as it ruins the fuel pump & costs a fortune to put right Laughing

There the best diesel engine choice for the 206 & a lot of the older PSA range of cars / vans.

Also the 2.0 hdi will come with the stronger BE gearbox.
