Hi all,

I have a 1999 1.6 8v GLX that just refuses to start. It was absolutley fine, I left it sitting for 3 weeks and now nothing. It seems as if the fuel pump is not working and there is no spark either. I have checked all silly things like petrol, fuses and lose attachments. I had the RAC out who plugged it into there diagnostic computer and it said there was a feul pump relay fault. I have replaced that and still nothing. The battery is fine, the car will just not go! I am really at my wits end and would really appreciate any advice.

Thanks guys.

I have tried it on both keys and tried the remote reset with no success.

I have tried an earth strap that is connected to the top of the engine with a black box on the end of it. Is that the earth strap?

There is no noise from the fuel pump at all. I lifted the back seat to find a riveted plate where the access panel usually is to get to the pump so i have not actually checked the pump itself.

I have pressed the red button at the back right hand corner of the engine bay but has not had any effect.

My guess is the fuel pump is dead, or the relay.

I have changed the relay. I will change the fuel pump and keep you posted. Seems to be a tricky job. The access panel is riveted so I guess it means dropping the fuel tank? Thank you everyone for your advice. I will post again when the fuel pump is changed Smile

Hi again, just to let you know, I've removed the fuel pump and it is in full working order! So, I have a working fuel pump, a new relay and there is definatly fuel in the car. Now I'm stumped! I've checked the fuel cut off switch and all fuses. Any ideas would be appreciated. Cheers
