Affects the braking distribution to the rears. Will fail the MOT for it.
Normally spraying it in penetration fluid would do the trick and free it up. Mines been seized about 2 times.

Nah nothing to do with steering.
tbh its seized on most cars, due to time and age and lack of rear set passengers.
Just soak it in WD40/penetrating oil

Are you sure its seized and that peugeot are not trying to get some money out of you? I work in a garage that does MOT's and 90% of 206's are failed with at least one thing being the compensator seized, because of that it almost becomes second nature for the tester to check it straight away

dunno thats what they said, they told me its not serious but quoted me for the job anyway so they dont seem too fussed wether i go back and get it done or not but have been thinking about it, they did say it was really common on 206's

Just spray some WD40 on it, and bounce up and down in the back seat/boot. It's only a spring.

This must be one of the daftest things I've heard.
Phone VOSA and say "my car passed the MOT and it shouldn't have done"
I've heard of people complaining because they didn't think the car should have failed, but never complaining their car passed.
Just get the WD on it and keep on top of the maintenance.

My other half says things like that lol
Had mot passed then went for service month later ball joints track rod ends and drop links all had play so other half said you should take it back to the mot place and ask why they passed it.
I told her to shut up and sit back down lol

Sometimes WD40 won't work.
Use proper penetrating oil. Get a screwdriver and wiggle it around inside, scraping out all the crap from inside. That fixed mine.
