the wife has a 2002 206 1.4 hdi
she came home around 3 weeks ago complaining about a grinding noise
so i jacked the car up and sure enough the noise came from the gearbox
1 fresh gearbox later the noise is still there so i change the driveshaft
comfident i've cured it i take it up the road
guess what Evil or Very Mad the noise is still there
so i take the driveshaft off again to replace the seal which was pouring oil
guess what the wheel bearings shafted

so the moral of this story is
if you get any strange nioses that sound like its coming from the gearbox
check the wheel bearing first Embarassed
