Hi,

Can anyone reccomend a reliable garage with a 206 Diagnostics kit in Teesside?

Bought my silver 54 reg independence at 49,000 miles (pretty sure it was clocked) last january from a local 'reputable' garage and its been riddled with problems. Had the coil pack replaced, new lambda sensor. Took the car to a garage reccomended to me (didnt know he was a porsche specialist before he charged me £45 an hour!!!).

He took my car to bits and discovered the air bag light and the engine management light had been covered with black mastic and duct tape. Airbag light was fixed right then but the engine management light was intermittent and went off! He ran the diagnostics tool anyway and that suggested it was the Catylic Converter...its just come back on (after a few weeks off) and ive finally got the money to get it sorted... want to double check it is the cat first (and not have to pay £45 an hour!!) any reccomendations welcome!

Cheers! Question

Could you not just get the codes read and see what comes up. There are quite a few code readers out there for less than you're paying per hour. Granted, they won't reset the ABS light but will do the same job as most garages.

Not really when you consider Renault charge £127 to change a headlight bulb.

£45 an hour is cheap for a "specialist".

Contact "Lee" on here, he is a good guy with all the correct software and is a damned sight cheaper than a garage Smile

Right there with you MissGTI!

FYI MrBSI i got it looked at at a local garage, bloke put it on the diagnostics for nothing (cause i get my MOT done there) apparently i have an ageing Catylist and a sensor on Cylinder one has gone, he's turned the engine management light off for me too.

So with the money i saved decided to start getting rid of the bumps and scratches on the car starting with the door sill where it looks like the previous owner has been digging her heels in! gotta buy some primer, got the paint match and clear lacquer - hope it works!!

A sensor on cylinder 1 has gone?? I have no idea what that could be as there aren't sensors on each cylinder.. other than the spark plugs and injectors?
Don't argue the opinions of idiots.
