Thought I would get in a few runs before my track day the next. The Q was short and quick and managed to get in 6 runs in the short time I was there. I equaled my previous best time and for once was nice and consistent with time and launches. Here are the results, photos and videos.

15.6 vs 15.4
2. Ice vs Nissan Sentra STi 200
15.2 vs 16.?
3. Ice vs MK 1 Golf
15.5 vs 15.0
4. Ice vs Fiesta ST
15.4 vs 15.7
5. Ice vs Fiesta ST
15.4 vs 15.7
6. Ice vs Honda Vtec (Got no idea which type, Too many of them
We couldn't get any time. Honda beat me by half a car.

Sunday 14 August was my 1st time around the track. This is the reason why I bought and enjoy my car. I went in the beginners group as it is not too busy with traffic. Each group gets 15 minutes on the track at a time. I did sessions 1,2 and 4. Session 4 was only 10 minutes and the most fun one of the day.
My 1st few laps I was just testing the track and car. Getting to know race line and brake points. Beginners group is not allowed to out break when entering a corner so it sloweed me down at times as I had to fall in behind the driver in front of me but I still had great fun none the less. The coilovers really make a big difference but the biggest has to be the Powerbrake disks. Only after 3 racing laps do I start to experience a little bit of fade. So it seems good to go for 4 racing laps at a time.
1st session best time of 1:43:89
2nd session times:
Lap1 01:48.28
Lap2 01:43.78
Lap3 01:42.78
Lap4 01:41.35
3rd session times:
Lap1 01:42.38
Lap2 01:41.14
Lap3 01:41.78
This session was the most fun. On my warm up lap I drove very slow so the the Scooby and Focus ST could overtake me as I didn't want to be in their way. Who knew on the next lap they would be in my sights.
The next lap I managed to overtake the Focus ST exiting corner 1. I could have overtaken him underbraking but I stuck with the group rules.
The next lap was tough against the Scooby finally got right behind him on the last turn and managed to accellerate much quicker into the main straight.

06 November 2011 - Open Street Car Track day at Killarney
I had a passenger in my car for the day as he took on board videos and we also trying a timing app on the iPhone for the lap times. I don't have all the lap times as I don't have an iPhone and trying to interpret the data on the PC is difficult. I know I at least managed to do 1:39:26 in the 1st session and 1:39:26 again in the 2nd session.
We are thinking my 4th lap in the 2nd session was my fastest as a friend who timed me manually clocked my fastest lap then. Unfortunately the iPhone app can only record 3 flying laps at a time and it takes too much time to reset it again. So for now my new fastest lap is 1:39:26 (previous best was 1:41:14). I will post all the lap times, G-force pulled in corners, etc once I get all the info converted.
Here are a few pics. Had a 207 GTi join me on the day for some fun.

Here are 2 flying laps. The 2nd video is 1:39:26
Coming out of the last turn:
Chasing an Audi S8:
Chasing a big pack. I managed to overtake the Subaru, BMW, 207 GTi and was on the tale of the Audi TT before my session ended.

Haha. I almost had him. We get 15 minutes track time in a session. Spent most of that time trying to pass the other cars. Perhaps with 1 more lap I could have made a move on the TT.
Hopefully at next track day that TT and another Honda S2000 not shown on pics and videos are there so I'll line up right after them to go and catch them

I'm still driving on the tyres I got for free and that were new when I bought the car in May 2010. They still have lots of thread left due to me not driving the car much.
I will buy better tyres once I need to replace. Any suggestions you may have? If possible not such a low profile for next tyres?
I currently have Bridgestone Potenzas up front and Pirelli P7000 at the back. I know it's weird but those 2 Pirellis at the back were the last 2 the dealership could find in Cape Town and besides I got all 4 for free so I didn't complain

16 December 2011 - Street 2 Strip @ Killarney
Was a very busy evening but I managed to get in 6 runs
Sorry I forgot my camera at home for this one
No Hondas and Toyotas wanted to go against me so I got the usual again and the lucky packet.
1. Ice (16.4) vs VR6 (15.7)
I had an awesome launch but found box full of neutrals as I went from 1st to 2nd
2. Ice (15.7) vs Razor the red Fiesta ST (15.7)
I bogged a bit on the start and Razor had a perfect launch so I was playing catch up the whole time.
I was at his back bumper as we crossed the line
3. Ice (15.4) vs Blue Turbo'd Golfie (14.8 )
So the usual lines up next to me. I out launch the Golfie by far and in my 3rd gear the Golfie
comes screaming past me.
4. Ice (15.2) vs City Life Golfie 1.6? (15.6)
It's a new Golfie but modded with some cams from the sound. I was quick of the line and kept my
gap.
5. Ice (15.2) vs Nissan Sentra VVL (14.8 )
Guy tells me he got normal Sentra STi just to skip Q to line up next to me.We both have good
launches but the VVL just opened in 2nd and kept going.
6. Ice (15.2) vs White Turbo'd Golfie (15.0 )
I didn't know this was a turbo. I outlaunch him by far. I must say my reaction times were very quick
that night. I open up a gap. I'm into 3rd gear at 6000rpm and all of sudden the Golfie comes flying
past me. Almost thought I had him.
So overall I just won 1 race which sucks although I ran 3 15.2 runs which is equal to my best times
