Hi all,
It's winter here in Oz and the other day my '02 GTi stopped pumping out any form of hot air. It's set on 23 degrees and even if I increase the C/C to 27 it increased the fan speed but still pumps out air at approx. 20 degrees.
If I change the C/C off auto fan, or turn the A/C to econ, it still does nothing about the temperature.
I've read that it could be a few things, namely the heater blower or matrix. No different smells in the car or liquid leaking out, and the coolant seems fine.
Any ideas on what I could look at? Anything would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
BigWal

Hi again,

So, it seems the control flap "cog" had snapped and hence it was not turning the mixer flap to control the amount of hot/cold air through the climate control.

The mechanic said it happens all the time- he glued the piece together again and cable tied it to give more strength.

It is only a temporary fix- I know the 307 has a replacement cog, but does anyone know if this part for the 206 is replaceable, if not more permantently fixable? I've heard that potentially the whole heater box needs replacing...

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Big Wal
