My baby gti is missing on idle and drive and using more fuel than norm....do i....
change plugs and filter
check fuel system
grovel nicely to a mechanic and spend lots of money which has yet to grow on my tree
Doctor doctor what do you think it could be?

seen a few problems like that recently and people seem to be saying clean the ICV

and a good service couldn't hurt too Razz

Logic guys. How would an idle control valve effect the way the car drives? The clue is in its title. It's an IDLE control valve. It's only used at idle!
2001 GTi 138, Bilstein Sprint dampers, H&R springs, 21mm Peugeot Sport torsion bars, 22mm rear ARB, Peugeot Sport Group A wishbones, 283mm discs, Goodridge stainless hoses, Maniflow 304 grade 4-2-1 2.5" manifold and system, 200 cell cat, Richard Longman head, 45mm Jenvey throttle bodies, 9.5mm TB spacers, 90mm air horns, Jenvey throttle linkage, Jenvey fuel rail, Aeromotive and Goodridge fuel fittings and braided hose, ITG sausage filter, Radtec custom radiator, Piper Ultimate Road cams, Piper vernier pulleys, Omex 600 ECU. Saxo electric PAS pump, Vibra Technics engine mounts. Samco coolant hoses, TTV steel flywheel, 4.76 final drive ratio, 307 CC 180 ratios. 2019 BMW 530i. 2017 Mercedes C300 convertible.

Like I said, if it has a problem when driving it's nothing to do with the idle control valve.

read the whole sentense....

missfire when idle and when drive.

you need to find out which cylinder is missfiring first and then work from there.

what coilpack and plug are you using?

randomly replacing parts is not a wise move.

Er, now your asking.....lol
Im of the female species and have no idea what so ever Im afraid...ive only had the car 2 months and its only done 37k
All I do know is that it is annoying me and I want to get it sorted before he decides he wants to pack up all together.....
Typical woman I hear you yell - well no im not, im into my cars and to be honest disappointed with this gti as its not fast enough...my astra coupe 2.2 was much more fun to drive
I need to make it feel good so i can drive with a smile
