I'll probably be eaten alive for this, but what is the difference with HDI models, and non-HDI models?

Like the difference between a 1.4, and a 1.4 HDI, just in difference the HDI models. I haven't had much luck on the internet with it, far as ive seen, HDI models are partly made in england..

HDIs are turbo diesel models, in a 1.4, 1.6 or 2.0 sized engine. Alternatively in older 206s you can get a non turbo 1.9 diesel which is slower than the lot and a bit old fashioned!

the hdi has no spark plugs as the furl combusts under pressure, it has a turbocharger and it is quite a lot heavier than the equivalent petrol model

So say, in the 1.4 model, is there a massive difference in BHP from the regular petrol 1.4? looking on auto trader all the specifications look very similar, bar MPG

Im not sure but as standard, but the 1.4 hdi is 70 but can be easily remapped, intercooled and decatted to give 100+ whereas its more difficult to tune the petrol 1.4

you could most likely remap the 1.4 diesel to around 75-80 bhp tho.

If you stick a massive exhaust on a diesel it doesn't sound like you are doing 100mph when you are actually doing 20mph, like it does with a petrol

really? i thought since you only gain like 30 bhp from remapping the 2.0hdi youd get less from the 1.4
