My 1.9d seems to be getting about 25-30 mpg and im getting about 400 miles to a tank which doesnt seem right. To say the tank is about 50 litres.

Any ideas why?

I service it every 3000 miles, air filter, oil, oil filter, fuel filter, drained water out of fuel, cleaned inlet up best i could, blanked EGR off as was broken.

Blocking the EGR will do the MPG

Is the 400miles to a fuel light or empty?

Empty, the inlet was covered in thick clumpy oil stuck to it so i cleaned the inside out but couldnt get to the metal inlet at the back of the block.

Just steady away really, keep it at low rev range, trying to be in as high a gear as possible without juddering.

Have you actually worked the MPG out, or is this just a total guess?

Well my GTi does about 360 to the fuel light and I thought that worked out as about 32ish mpg last time I checked.

Plus concentrated hydrochloric acid (try to get over 0.5%) or filtering thru kitty litter sometimes works
