Browsing for bits for my 180 even though I haven't got 1 yet lol and found these black masked headlights but were told there only for lh drive cars, is there really a difference between lh and rh drive headlights?

yes they are.

they diffract light in opposite direction

I'm sure you can buy converters which are like little things you stick on the lens but they ruin the look of the light then I think.

Yes, the reflectors are different inside the headlamp to aim the light beam pattern in the correct direction.
