I've got an '03 1.4 8V and I've just driven back from work and came up behind a tractor so I went from 5th to 3rd and went to accelerate and the engine seemed to "die" for a split second before it accelerated normally. On a clear bit of road I slowed down to 1st and went through the box and the engine died for a spilt second after every gear change. It also does it if I take foot off the gas pedal and accelerate again. Got to a set of lights and the engine stalled and the same happened when I went to reverse onto the drive and now it sometime idles and sometimes wont. No EML light and when on the open road it drives as normal.

I'm thinking Coil pack or Idle control valve or even throttle position sensor.

Ive got a code reader so gonna do that now but just wanted post this to get some feedback.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I read the codes with ELM 327 and it was the MAP sensor. Put the old one back on and now car is sorted. BE AWARE: SOME ELM 327 FROM Ebay DOES NOT DO ALL IT SAYS IN THE LISTING, MINE ONLY READS CODES AND AND THE ENGINE RPM.

An Ex '03 1.4 GLX driver, German technology all the way now.
