how do you remove the covers to change the rear numberplate lights

From what I've found mate, the easiest way is to unclip the plastic covers and pull them off. Simple really.

Very carefully as the clips on the lens are easily broken.
Its normally safer to unclip the complete lamp unit on the hatchback 206's to make removing the lens a lot easier, on the CC its a right swine to get to as it means removing plenty of clips to get the trim of just to release the lamp unit.

Ironically, I tried to remove the whole unit to make it easier, those snapped and the outside cover didn't xD

There cheap enough brand new from Peugeot / Citroen & they come with the bulb to
It used to be cheaper to buy a new lamp unit then go to Halfords & buy the bulb

i used a flat tip screw driver and with very little force, a wedge would pop it out easy. no risk of breakage, swap the bulbs and clip back the cover.
pivot and push on the flat side of the cover not the rounded side

Ive seen CC number plates bulbs done by removing the interior trim panel on the boot, loads of poxy little clips
There was plenty of swearing to
