looking at a cheap gti180 and in the add it says the ecu has crashed and put the car in limp mode!

is there anyway to reset the ecu so it'll rev up again?? i ask because on my type r scooby if i disconect the battery it resets the ecu so just wondered if it was the same principle.

ECU goes into limp mode to protect the engine as it can't reliably work out what's happening from the engine sensors ie they don't make sense or add up so it restricts max rpm and throttle response

The impact sensor inertia cut off switch and its reset button under the bonnet is a g force cut off to fuel and sometimes ignition. Engine won't be allowed to start at all with that triggered

So you need to find out what the ECU is unhappy about - first stop- any fault codes stored-and fix that

GTI 180 like all multiplexed 206's doesnt have a fuel inertia cut of switch under the bonnet as the airbag ecu controls this function Wink

GTI 180 is EOBD compatible, scanning it for fault codes to see why the engine managment light is on & why its stuck in limp mode is easy / cheap enough Wink
