its weird  there's no option for the cd changer on the mfd though as I have been through it. I know on mine it says cdc: out and I thought this might have the same sort of thing but it just does date, time, speed kph - mph and the temperature

No, on the mfd settings when you keep hold of one of the buttons.

It needs BSI configuration set up tweaking for trip computer with Peugeot Planet.

It has that done. But when you go into the MFD settings you need to enable CAN-VAN on the MFD too for the CD changer. If it wasn't enabled on the previous car which it was removed from then it won't have the settings on this car.
