Hi, over the last few months my engine randomly cuts out when slowing down for a roundabout, traffic lights, etc, and the steering becomes near impossible. (Not sure if it is the steering lock engaging or the loss of power steering.)

Engine always starts again with no problems. Even with the car still moving.

This problem doesn't happen every day. Some times it is fine for days. Other times it can happen 2 or 3 times in a day.

Anyone know what is causing this and the possible solution?

My 206 is a 2001 1.4i petrol GLX with 52K miles.

Very Happy

Sounds to me like you have either a comon problem with the Air idle control valve, ( look it up will just need a clean)
or you have an air leak

If it will continue to run with the throttle applied then I'd go for the idle control valve too.

Loss of Power Steering.. the lock won't engage with the key in the ignition.

As said, clean the Idle Control Valve.. There is a guide on here. Search.
