Let the tyres down, or get 4 fat friends to always sit in the car.

Springs. But then you would more than likely have to change at least the droplinks and the top mount bearings while you were there and then factor in the cost of getting the torsion bar done if you can't do so yourself. In not so many words there isn't really a cheap way without cutting corners which could cost you more in the long run. Save up and do the job properly first time would be my suggestion.

If you can do it all yourself £30/£40 for some spring and that's it.

Tho cutting the springs will make it free Laughing (I joke, never cut you springs Razz )

i would always recomend spending an extra couple of quid and get coilovers, for what you can pay for springs you might aswel wait an extra couple of weeks and get a little bit more money and get coilovers. more secure, better ride and more reliable. then do your torsion bar yourself (its easy, even guides on youtube or written guide on google)

Remove the rear axle and all wheels for that 'slammed' look.

Agreed, sounds like someone has been feeding you bulls**t, if anything it's the exact opposite of what you just said.

As for cheap lowering you can get used springs for £20-£30 and then just the labour or do it yourself. Can't get much cheaper really.

Not true at all.
