Second hand will be fine as long as you get the right one.
You could also get the crash data cleared from yours, PM me if you want more info.
You have drivers steering airbag, passengers airbag, drivers and passengers curtain airbags, seat airbags and seat belt pretensioners.

You will need the right ECU, and it also turning on in the BSI
Are you wanting to fit a passengers airbag?

Most likely find it doesnt have any airbags at all being in Brazil, it might have just front seatbelt pretensioners.

If I want to put the passenger one, will need a new dashboard too, right?
So the basic item set will be:
New steering wheel
New dashboard
New ECU
BSI Remap
That's it?
MrBSI, that's right. I forgot the tensioners....
Damn... That will cost a lot.

If you want the full system you will need Airbag ECU, Steering wheel with airbag, passengers one (the dash might just pop out) seat belt pretensioners and wiring loom and a BSI config

I'll looking for this in totalled cars. Maybe I can buy some parts from wrecked cars. That will help a lot with the final cost.
I'm trying to do the same thing with air conditioning system. That's just what missing in my car: Airbags, AC and ABS...

Buying from crashed cars is pointless, airbag system will be no good and need replacing.
ABS won't be the easiest thing to fit. I have a ABS pump and master cylinder if you are going ahead with it though.
Also a digital climate control system and AC radiator and compressor.
Airbag's need to come off a un-crashed car. ECU's are cheap enough. Got a couple of airbags if you need them too.
.....infact what year is the car? non-plexed or multiplexed?

Lee, maybe I can buy the pretensioners, ECU and base steering wheel from a crashed. But if the values are cheap like you said, it's pointless, true.
My car's a 2008 multiplexed. I think the version don't have a similar in UK. Here name version name's "Sensation".

Ahh slightly different on yours then as the airbags are dual stage depending on the severity of the impact.
When the car is crashed you need to remove the crash data from the ECU which is about £60-80, whereas you can buy a uncrashed one for about £20. Same goes with the pretensioners.
Steering wheel needs to come from a 2002 or newer as they use a clip on airbag rather than a screw on one.

The steering wheel is really another one or just the front dash and the airbag itself?
Maybe I can use my steering wheel and just put the airbag inside. Is that possible?
