Bought this in 1998, and everytime I tihnk I might sell it I find another reason to keep it Laughing

I don't have any pics of it as it was when I bought it, mainly because it was before the advent of digital cameras Rolling On The Floor Laughing

But it looked like this:

I put it on a set of 16s which I soon got bored with so on went the 17s:

Next were XSI skirts, lowered by 40mm all round, angel eyes, smoked rear lexus lights, ecosse rear spoiler, badgeless grille, backbox and colour coded mirrors:

So, as it stood:

I built an install using equipment from my friends showcar that she was breaking, which was really my first foray into car audio:

Thats how it stayed for a couple of years until a change of job brought in money that enabled me to take it to the next level.

A call was made to Ecosse and the full Mygale kit of front and rear bumpers and splitter was ordered. When the kit came I knew it wouldn't fit straight on as it was for the phase 2 facelift model so I called a mate and his garage was acquired for the storage and workspace to make them fit.

The front numberplate recess was filled and the bumpers completely smoothed and front bumper extended to fit. The result, completed the night before Pugfest 06:

After that, Gti6 brakes were installed on the front and then I set to work on the interior. From this:

To this:

Next, Iceled UFO kit was installed from my brothers car and was used as a demo car for a year:

Soon after the engine went pop after being overfilled with oil by the garage so a new lump from a 1999 DT was dropped in with only 37000 miles on all paid for by the garage. Myself and a mate fitted it in an evening, I was surprised how easy it was.

Soon after, a random MSN convo with a mate who also happened to be an installer at Sextons turned into this within a month:

This has been measured at 140.8db before it was set up properly. The rear lights were also added after a wait of 3 months for them to be made to order by Esquiss.

Finally came the hardest mod of all in the new 18" chrome plated wheels, mainly due to the fact the tyres were too wide and the wheels, having been imported from the USA, not being the right offset. In total, about 18 hours were spent fitting them, removing them, experimenting with different spacers and refitting them until finally they didnt scrape too much. There's approx 2-3mm clearance on the inside of either arch meaning no rear seat passengers Laughing

That's it for now, it's unlikely i'll do any more to it now as I can't justify the cost of a respray.

As it currently stands:

Good and bad comments welcome, I realise it's not everyone's cup of tea, but if nothing else i've had a good 12 years with this car and learnt much more about audio, fibreglass, bodywork and engines than I ever would've learnt from a book.

It's served me well and bar a problem with the electric windows and the engine going bang has never given me any major problems.

So French isn't always unreliable if you look after it properly, as the car's done 148000 now.

not into chrome, or the spoiler and rear lights.

reminds me of a car near me with these hideous plastic 'chrome' wheel trims and tribal decals. that cars ruined chrome for me Sad

That's cool, but two of the three things you've mentioned are the rarest things which make it stand out, which for me is what modifying a car is about. There are only 5 sets of those rear lights in the UK, no surprising when they cost £360 a set Laughing

And as said the wheels were imported from the US and to date i've only ever seen them on 2 other cars.

I think with a few wee changes you would have yourself a decent looking car.

If i were you i'd get rid off the alloys as they do nothing for the car, they look really tacky on it and i know you said you got them from the USA, but i can always remember seeing copy versions in Halfords which looked chavvy.

I reckon some standard phase 3 crystal headlights and the Esquiss Auto phase one badegless grille would tidy up the front end.

Also you should either colour code the sidestrips to match the bumpers or if i was you, i'd spray the bump strips black, then get some decent black alloys, black masked headlights and black LED rear lights.

Have you ever thought about getting rid off the vertical bar in the middle of the bumper grille? The Sedan llooks alot less busy at the front with a few modifications to it.
