I've done a search on electric folding mirrors but I'm a bit confused on exactly what wires are required for this mod.

First of all, I've checked my cabin loom (where the mirror switch will go) and I have the mirror plug with 10 wires coming from it, so I assumed I can go ahead and do this mod.

My car's an 06 Verve and doesn't have the mirror plugs, so I've managed to get hold of two door looms from a 180 that I expected would allow me to connect the mirrors up. Both looms have 9 wires going into the plugs.

However, I've read one thread on here that says to do this mod there should be 9 wires on the passenger side and 7 on the driver's side. Is this from the looms or the actual mirrors?

If I have 9 in both looms is it possible I have two passenger looms?

I don't know about the number of wires on each side of the loom but they best bet would be to get the mirrors and looms from the same car if possible. That's what I did anyway. You may need the bsi updating but I wouldn't have thought so being a 2006

You need 9 wires in the pass and 7 in the drivers, in the door loom for it to work

You need 10 at the switch side

So the connector on the passenger loom should have 9 pins and and the connector on the driver loom should have 7 pins?

Fit the door looms, fit the switch & mirrors, job done.

Reason there is 9 wires in the drivers door loom is its far easier & cheaper to just make one standard folding mirror door loom with the 9 wires in Wink

Only going on what someone told me when I asked but I didn't need mind doing.

I only said it'd be easier to get them from the same car. Less hassle if you can do this

Cheers MrBSI Wink ; this is what I assumed when I bought the two looms but just needed to doublecheck before I went and bought the mirrors. Plus, the guy I bought them from has just confirmed that they're both looms from the same 180. I've just bought the mirrors so once they arrive I'll go about fitting them.

Need to check the switch too. Just because you are fitting a loom with 9 wires, doesn't mean the cabin loom wiring will magically be there

This was the first thing I checked as you stated to do to the guy in this thread...

In my car, there are ten wires attached to the connector that will attach to the electric mirror switch.

Thinking I was clever and had everything to do this mod, last week I went ahead and tried to do it. The result wasn't so promising Embarassed

When fitting the door looms, I found that the bulky plug at the end of the 180 door loom doesn't match the connector in my car.

The 180 connector is black / red with two horizontal lines of 8 pins in each line, and also has an extra blue connector:

My existing car loom's connector is yellow / blue and has a different pin arrangement:

So, if I get the interior loom out of a 180, to match the 180 looms I have, could I go ahead and complete this mod? Confused
