Been browsing online at bits for the 206 (interior, ICE) but can't seem to find anything I like or it's too expensive and as a result i'm pondering if I should just use some of my money to put the car back to standard as much as I can and buy a 180 as I've seen a clean example in the colour i'm after for only £2495 which is 04 plate with 47k miles and just had cambelt changed but is also local to me.

I still have pretty much all of the standard lights to swap over so will only need a gti exhaust system and gti wheels as the janspeed I have at the mo will be taken off for the 180 as well as the 180 alloy's I have.

I know for those who read my project thread that I was going to carry on with this 206 but I can't afford to improve the power and at just over 85k I don't see any point and feel that my money is best worth spent on getting a 180 and improving it's standard spec inside and out

If I was gonna upgrade I wouldnt be buying another 206, there are far better cars out there then a GTI 180.

Gotta agree with this.

I've had 7 206s, 4 of them I drove. So from my personal experience I'd say buy German or Japanese in future.

I don't think that for the money i'd have once mine is sold, it would be enough to buy a fast, low milage german or jap car which is not older than 10yrs but also looks good in standard form. I'm always looking at cars and alot of the one's I like (integra's, mk4 golf gti t, S3) are either older than my 206 with high milage and over 3.5k or there newer and are also well out of my price change, at least with the 180 it looks good in standard form, insurance is cheap, has performance to match and is in my price range

Sounds like you have already set your heart on it so this thread was pretty pointless then.

Rather have high mileage German than low mileage french.

You seem set on it though so just get a 180..

i just got a celica vvtli 190 insted of my 180 about the same performance figures. but the toyota is alot better skrewed togeather also alot cheaper on ins, both were on the same milage (pug 50k toyota 51k) both were 2 owner cars from new and both cost the same (to the last penny).
not knocking the 180 as it was fun little car but did feel like it was going to fall apart whereas the celica just feels more solid.

thats the same shape as i have got (generation 7 ) that looks like the 140 bhp version but yes good car, well to me it is lol but i have have celicas before (older shape gt4).
you do have to rev the 190 hard to get the best out of them as they are toyotas version of a vtec.
very little diffrence between them and a 180 i have had them side by side full bore and the 180 has a very slight edge (1 car length) up to around 100 ish then the celica just pulls it back so as said nothing between them.
180 is ins group 17 (in old groups)
celica is 14e (in old groups)

It all depends what you want out of a car. I bought german after fast jap and its no fun. Brilliant cars but i can't think of any that are as light and as fun as the gti. Hence why i have both. I drive the audi because it looks good, cruises nicely and is built properly. But give it a week and i have to take the 206 out for a thrash, makes me feel 17 again, hooning around in the asbo car. Nothing beats the grin factor from time to time. Also the more expensive the car the less likely you are to thrash it down backroads. If i clip a hedge row in the peugeot i think oops, another scrarch but i'd be sick in my mouth in the audi. Just something to ponder before going ob moneysupermarket for a big loan you can only just afford!
This 206 IS going on a trackday despite it's every effort to stay at home in the garage!
