I am having a go at this now. I looked at the how to but its for a GTi and it seems different. I was told I can get to it from to top by removing the battery tray. I did and can see where it goes. Just wondering how to get the selector out of the box and off the rod? Do I need to pull it hard up or prise it off from an angle. Also do I need to remove the rubber bit around where the selector goes into the gearbox? I don't want to split it.
