Having to use a decat downpipe, Im not de-cating the exhaust for a performance upgrade. Im doing it because the cat needs to be replaced & I dont have the £300ish (bits & fitting) to get a new one.

I have been given a decat downpipe for nothing & wondering if the engine management light ('catalytic converter fault' & 'anti pollution fault') will be on constantly on as a result & if they are, is there a way of preventing the faults & beeping?

It is a temp fix until I can afford the proper exhaust.

What car is this going on? I paid about £100 for a complete new exhaust for the CC including cat.

The light will probably stay on and it would be an MOT fail too. Removing the cat now is an instant fail as they've changed all the rules.

Down to just the 1.4 HDi. Cayman Green 2.0i CC sold.

its going on a 1.6 16v Quicksilver (2005 XSI). Im aware of the MOT failure on emissions but I've got about 4months until mine is due & will have the proper one on by then but need the car in the meantime.

WOW where did you get yours from?

I have had these two exact faults flash up on my car and the fault didn't actually end up being down to the CAT, i'd get a diognostics done to rear the fault codes if i were you

PS: on a siimilar note i paid £200 for full exhaust for my GTi just before christmas

Wahoo!

Its going to be plugged in Tuesday but I can hear a rattle coming from CAT. Where did you get your complete system from? Ive been on EuroCar parts & GSF website, reeeally confused as to which sensors & cats I need as both 'suggest' 2 or 3 different types of each!

What did the problem with yours turn out to be?

1.6 is a bit more expensive than a 2.0 CC though!
