I think my car is dying,

The last few days the car has been really sluggish at starting, tonight after work I tried to start it an it nearly died, the stereo wouldn't work and had an alarm like beeping noise, also my dash lights dimmed and wouldn't brighten, after I got home, I left the car for 20 mins and everything was normal,

When should a battery's lifetime be over and need changed?
Could this be the distributed or altonator or a plain and simpe battery change or even something more serious?

easy way to check is to use a multimeter on the abttery as the cars running

you should see about 14v

if not then your alternator is shot

turn your car off and if your voltage starts dropping quite fast it's your battery thats goosed

I agree with that, and the lifetime of the batteries (good brands) like VARTA,BOSCH,DELPHIE,FIAME it's 3-5 if the alt. is in good shape, and you maintain it ,so do as the guys said and check it with multimeter, and you will be sure, and if you want to be sure, let someone else start the car while you test the battery with multimeter,so if the reading drops down to 9-11,then you need a new one for sure.

Really Confused

Hmm.. I need to change both of mine then Laughing

Batteries need changing when they no longer hold charge well.
