The same garage fitted the cat 3 weeks ago and have said it's gone already? It should still be covered by manufacturer warranty, so you shouldn't be paying for that.
Hope they replaced the hub nuts when they did they sorted the brakes.

Total b******s, ive had my drums of 6 / 7 times over the years when doing the yearly brake clean / check & never once had the wheel bearing fall apart.
If things are looked after / serviced correctly you dont get a problem.
A lot of people the first time the drum gets removed is when something fails like the brake shoes

You can normally remove drums without damaging bearings if they're in reasonable condition and nothing is seized. If the brake shoe delaminates, then often (a lot of) brute force is needed to remove the drum, since it all jams up inside.

i had to get my wheel bearings, shoes and drums replaced recently, think they said something with an adjustor not working properly and the shoes had made/forced grooves in the drums. also had some missing bolts here and there which was a worry...
i hope you get your problems sorted soon
