Tonight I lft the misses house about 11 and drove about a mile to the petrol station before I came home. On cold damp mornings my car has been making squealing noises on light acceleration, like it's wet until its warmed up and dried..but it did it almost all the way to the petrol station tonight until I filled up started the engine again, it sounded like it slipped and then it was fine? Any suggestions?!

I've done a search but I didn't know if anyone else was getting this problem with the winter weather and found a solution?

Could be a mouse....

Maybe an aux belt slipping??

How do you mean its wet until its warmed up?

You say its slipped...whats slipped.

Where is the squeak coming from??

Well when I say slip its like it's slipping that's what I presume, but it only happens when it's cold and wet on first start up, but as the engine warms and it runs it stops? It's coming from under the bonnet I know that but by the time I've started it popped the bonnet to have a gander it's gone!:(

Aux belt I would say. Cheap enough to replace so change it and see if problem persists.

If its the Aux belt slipping that would mean the tensioner is on its way out and needs replacing, the squeak could also be the tensioner bearing seizing up. Get it replaced soonest because if the belt snaps or comes off you'll have no alternator, air-con or power steering.

Definitely aux belt and tensioner spring. I had mine replaced recently because of the same problem you are having and it is now fine. Total cost £175.00 for me was unless you do it yourself.

Depends on how you look after it to how much it will cost you. If you drive and maintain your car regularly most things will be simple wear and tear. Had mine over a year now and apart from clutch and aux belt nothing has gone wrong as it was looked after before I got it and still is.
