Well after finding all the hidden bolts etc that hold the gearbox in I finally got it off the 1.4 tonight...

Only to find this on the inside after nearly dropping the damn thing on my foot. There will be a lot of swearing tommorow trying to put one back on....

Looks like the diff has blow itself up and split it casing

i did this on a zx 1.4 i had around 10 years ago

Yep, nice big hole in the caseing, strange thing is it still drives fine jusy grinds like hell from having no oil in the box.

I know, was going steady down a pretty long straight just crusing, next thing there's an allmighty bang and smoke which I can only geuss at all the oil coming out the box and hitting the hot exhaust for a few minuites and the box started whinnig like hell.

thats what happened to the cc and then it destroyed the bearings so was replaced what happens at traffic lights because thats where mine started happening

I actually looked after that box, even gave up with the lazy gear changes and using 5th as an arm rest, the last one took 40K of abusive driving before the diff collapsed on it.

Planet gear broke up at a guess, most common thing or it shed a tooth or 2 thru the bell housing, Seen loads like that and it's not just MA's that suffer from it
