I'm getting a clunk or bang from the rear right handside suspension at present. It's too cold for me to invetsigate outside at present and I don't have a garage to work in or money to take it somewhere.

I thought the rear suspension was just a torsion bar but the noise is like a worn bush.
Are there any in the back axle?

There are bearings in the rear axle that will die at some point, quite an expensive job IIRC.

Changed my duff axle bearing today. Took 5 hours on drive with coffee breaks. Bugger of a job and needed my sledge hammer. Or you can replace the whole axle (which is a lot easier). Recon approx 400 scrappies about 125 but you don't know how long they will last. To check jack up the car and try to move the wheel. Or take it to kwik fit and get them to check. They diagnosed mine for free. It's a common problem.

There is a how to in the section and a good set of videos on you tube.

Forgot to add, another symptom is poor handling as the rear wanders a bit and inside edge tyre wear. Also the wheel will sit in at the top although mine only did this sometimes.

Ok thanks, well that explains the other issues that I have been experiencing?
