My car makes a strange high pitch squealing sound usually when a lot of revs are put on or sometimes traveling at higher speeds (70 mph Wink ) My guesses are water pump or fan belt? If that makes any sense? and if anyone has a rough idea to how much a new water pump may be for a 2001 1.1 style

The sound is only tempoary it only stays on for about 5 - 10 seconds sometimes louder than the last time it squealed

Its probably just your engine trying to explode, thats what happens when you have it screaming its tits off trying to go "70"...lol

But yeah, probably your aux belt or timing belt tensioner.

Best bet is to take it to a garage as we cant tell from here what the noise is, we would only be guessing really.

Start with the aux belt, if that doesn't do it then move onto the water pump.

You may as well replace the cambelt at the same time.
