Now, i'm sure all of you are familiar with the instrument clusters stopping working. My rev counter has just died in my 2.0 HDI and i'm wondering what clusters are compatible?
It's 2002 reg LX 2.0 HDI, i've seen a cluster with similar mileage but it's from a 2005 GTI HDI, so I wanted to ask if they would be compatible, i'm assuming not? Probably different connectors? Mine has the two connectors.
Any help would be great!

As far as I know as long as you get a multiplex and diesel cluster you should be fine. Probs better to get one of the same car if you want the same working functions (oil temp etc)
Look at the back of them to be sure if not
So yes, the 2005 one should be fine

If your instrument cluster has 2 connectors on the back then it is NON plexed.
The GTI HDI cluster WONT fit!

Ok so that one won't fit then -.-' Shame
And less miles? Why does it have to be less? Obviously I wouldn't want to have one that has done 10k moreā¦
But surely a few more is fine? Unless i'm missing something? Haha

Didn't read your entire topic, only the first few lines.
Your car is non-plexed, generally the clocks will need to come off a 2001 or older.
The mileage is stored in the clocks, so the mileage on the clocks you buy will be the mileage that is displayed in your car.

Maybe I've missed something but how can it be an 02 plate and non plexxed?
Or is this the classic was made in 01 but not registered until then.

I'm assuming it being 'Plexxed' came with the facelift?
With the nicer lights, bootstrip etc? Which mine doesn't have
It definitely has two connectors on the cluster

have u check the cluster motor behind the instrument? Is very common cluster motor failling on 206, mine did the same. There's a tiny plastic pin holding the cluster motor gear that broken and cause the problem.
If your diy skill is good, u can glu it back into place or just solder a steel pin to hold the gear. It will save u a lot of trouble and money.
