Get someone to unplug and reconnect each of the temperature sensors and pull gently on the wires. In fitting the exhaust they may have dislodges something.

i change the thermostat on my 206 without draining it, yes the fluid leaks out but put a clean tray underneath and catch the water, then just tip it back it Smile the sensor itself can be changed without losing any fluid. The Thermostat is about £10 and the sensor £15. Have a look to see if there are two sensors near the thermostat, a brown one for the temp (not all have this but mine does) and a green one for the ECU. It might be worth checking the hoses and the expansion tank too. If its not losing water then it should be relatively simples Smile

Well proud of myself, gave the job a go myself, purchased a new Thermostat this aft, Halfords price £23 (pffft you can keep ya stat thanks very much) sourced one for £13 from Andrew Pages, anyway fitted it all okay and now both hoses get warm the radiator gets warm and i noticed the fan also works now too, so i gave myself a big pat on the back. I would like to thank everyone for their input, i couldn't have done it without you all.
Thanks again guys.
Debs.

Well done - good on you. And is the temp gauge now nice and steady?

PS: Networkrail are now recruiting apprentices for next years intake and looking to increase the number of women on the scheme. Voted best apprenticeship in the whole UK in 2008.

I'd rather go straight to Peugeot / Citroen main dealer & save money on both those prices Wink

well 2 months since i fitted the new Stat now and the car has been running fine without any problems in regards to the temp gauge. So the stat was the problem. Thanks for everybody's input, much appreciated. Debs

Sorry to wake up an old and finished thread.

But while your car was being a dog, you didn't notice if you could turn the radiator fan by hand?

My cars over heating at the moment (our few days of summer) and the temp doesn't fall, only climbs while stationary. Driving along it drops back to 80ish.

I can't turn the radiator fan by hand either.

No problems if no1 replies as it is an old thread now.

What temp does it rise to? As to me your car sounds normal.

@MrMorris: Sounds more like your fan relays are screwed and the fan isn't kicking in, which is a common problem. (I have this same problem, but have not yet had chance to look at it)

My temps rise all the way to Max and red STOP comes on.

Like I say, the fan is impossible to turn by hand, blades feel like they will snap before fan turns.

Relays are th electric plugs at bottom of radiator??

Sorry for hijacking this thread Smile
