I,ve now replaced the rad and stat but i have a small drip from the bottom of the plastic stat housing, now when i fitted this there was no gaskit betwix the plastic housing and the block/head, is this correct? I did use the smallest bit of instant gaskit from a tube, is this wrong? If all above is correct maybe i only need to nip up the two 10mm bolts, OR i could have done then up TOO tight and split the plastic!!

There is a rubber seal moulded in to the bottom of the plastic thermostat housing.

Did you use a genuine Peugeot / Citroen part OR a crappy aftermarket item?

since you have a 1.4 8v then the thermostat should be like my engine,I replaced mine afew weeks ago,and you don't need to put anything between the Theromstat housing and the engine block, because the thermostat have the " O" ring, fit it,and tight the 2 screws, and you are ready to go,but I guess you may have the leak from the hose that is fitted to the thermostat housing,so make sure it's tight.

Cheers guys, yes it does have a rubber "O" ring inside, looks like i may need to nip them up a bit more, i did ere on the side of caution when i fitted it, and considering the heat cycles it goes thru with expansion and contraction i guess its just a little loose.
Mr BSI, no its not an OE part, but its a well known brand but the name elludes me at the mo because i threw the box out. Embarassed
