Hi All,
i recently purchased a waterpump for my 206cc 2001 and was told that i had the correct replacemnt water pump for my car.
So on the weekend i decided to do the change for the new one which was alloy.
So after taking off the old pump which was plastic i managed to break some of it by by acceidnt, but i thought it didnt matter as i would fit the new one.
i tryed putting on the alloy pump only to find out it does not fit.
first question is are all the water pumps on the GTI and 180 engines plastic?
the second question is where can i buy a plastic pump?
third question could i change a plastic pump one for an alloy one (whole system)
hope someone can help thanks Confused

I would replace OEM, where did you buy it from? Its not worth putting a part on that your not sure of its reliabilty, especially the waterpump.

I had a hole in my water hose (rubber) on my 2001 206 I used to own and the new part was hard plastic. Sorry I'm not a mechanic but the water pump / hose may be different parts???

I don't know wheter this info would help but when I had my water pump replaced, although it did fit it leaked. It turns out the plastic mount on the engine where the pump fixes to can warp causing a leak.
I had to get the revised alloy mount from Pug so the new water pump could be put on. Hasn't leaked since.
If you have an alloy pump maybe you need the revised alloy mount for it to fit correctly?
There might have been some revisions and a concous move away from plastic mounts and pump to avoid the warping problem and leaks?

Just speculation as I didn't do the work myself. Just saw the addtional bill on my receipt from pugeot lol.
