Went for a nice ride out up north York moor's today and was going down a particularly bumpy road and this fell off. Any idea what it is and where it goes, it looks like a shield.
Thanks

Wow that was quick. Cheers, it's a 2001 gti btw
Is it a problem to leave it off a couple of months till I take car in for mot?
I'd rather not take the time out if it's not important.

If it wasn't important it wouldn't be there in the first place mate, any knocks on a speedbump etc without it on will damage the cat

Not that important tbh! I removed it off my escort, couldn't be doing with it, if you put it back on it will only probably rattle any way!

That what I thought cheers.
I can't see how it attaches, there are no screw holes. I think it may need tack welding on. I need a new exhaust anyhow.

Only downside is that if you get a hot cat, fly through a puddle and soak it, the insides can collapse.

A new exhaust may not solve your problem, it depends how far along the exhaust system you intend to go. Isn't the Cat the last sesction before the manifold?
