That was my second thought, but I was hoping it was the cheaper option first. Any ideas how I would know which one is on its way out?? x

what do you mean by which one?
there's only one starter motor.
but there not to expensive really, can get new ones from 30-50 quid on ebay.
can probably get a second hand one for cheaper, if anyone's breaking up there 206 to sell.

Get the battery tested. If it's ok, then it'll be the starter motor or maybe even the spark plugs if it hasn't been serviced in ages.

If you need a starter motor, I have one that you can have and can drop it off either tomorrow or friday after work as I pass you anyway.

well a decent new battery would probably cost more than a starter motor to be honest, but from what you've said. i dont think it's the battery.
and i couldn't say about changing it, i've never done it. wouldn't think it's to hard of a job. but wouldn't take my word for it lol.
