No hate on this as im 17 and only been driving a month or two, a 1.1 is about the limit any 17 year old on a basic part time wage can afford haha.
I know for my first car many of you may be wondering 'what's the point of modifying a 1.1 when you can move on to more powerful cars in a few years... I know there isnt any point buying mods to affect the performance as i dont think its worth spending alot to get a few more bhp from a car that produces not alot already, but this is more about making it look good for my first car...

I have a few plans to make my standard 1.1 style into something that will impress a few at college or around town and stand out a little from my friends standard corsa's.

Firstly i need to get rid of these horrible steels and repace them with some alloys..

Had recently been looking and ordered some deep dish of which i cancelled my order half a day later, now ive been looking to get either some 16" nimrods or 15 inch 205 gti alloys, the 205's are 15 inch so with lower profiles on would these sit nicely and not mess up my car too much? as ive been told 16's can be deadly? Found some 15 inch gti's at the local scrappy...

Plans...

-Debadged rear [x]
-New sony headunit [x]
-JBL amp [x]
-Alpine 12" sub [x]
-40mm front lowering springs [ ]
-Lower torsion bar roughly the same [ ]
-Colour code trims moonstone blue [ ]
-Gti front bumper [ ]
-Nimrods or 205 1.9 gti alloys [ ]
-Debadged boot strip [ ]
-Gti front lights [ ]
-Angle eyed half/half rear lights [ ]
-New backbox [ ]
-Gti Moonstone blue spoiler [ ]
-German pressed plates [ ]
-206info.co.uk sticker [ ]

Back to the alloys, if i were to get the nimrods what colour would suit my moonstone blue 206? Could i use spacers to make them a little wider etc..

If anyone has any ideas or any more little mods can do to set myself away on my first car please feel free to put me in the right direction!

Thankyou:)

You're 17 and on a budget.
Before making any modifications, check with your insurance to see how much they are going to a**e rape you by.

Minor things like stickers and de-badging will make little or no difference to the premium. Alloys and lowering will significantly increase what you pay.

Anything that the car didn't leave the factory with needs to be declared. The insurance company can access the standard spec easily, and if you don't declare a mod, your insurance will be invalid. No payout if you have a bump and if the police pull you and decide to check if the mods have been declared and find they haven't, they will tow the car and charge you for having no insurance. This can be upto 11 points, you're only allowed 6 in the first 2 years after passing your test, so IMO it would all be a waste of money.
You'll end up having to walk into McDonalds rather than using the drive through.

Keep it fairly standard until you have built up your NCD and you can afford a better car.

17 & a 206 owner, I wouldn't even bother modifying it as sooner or later there is a good chance it will be a total loss Wink

is a good point mate, i found my insurance for 170 a month and thats with lowered suspension upto 40mm and alloy wheels, surely the colour coded trims and badgeless boot strip etc wont affect that too much? The lights are coming of a standard gti so they wont make any difference?:) they wont be as noticeable as them ugly lexus lights and clear ones, cheers pal

Doesn't matter if they are OEM parts or not, if the car is modified from how it left the factory they should still be declared.
