Howdo,
I was putting my new dampers on my engine last night and i noticed a lot of oil around the oil cap and in the head below.
I suspect its the gasket thats gone.
I've checked my oil and its still on the max mark, but I was wondering, to change the gasket, do I need to drain the oil at all of can I just unscrew all the bolts and change it?
I've added a pic to show you where the leak is coming from.
P.s. - would this affect power or anything? I havent noticed anything, but then again I dont know how long its had a leak.

If its on the cam cover you shouldnt need to drain any oil.

nah mate dont need to drain any oil at all, if i was you i would put a tiny smear of sealer on the new gasket just to make it extra tight! i know other people would disagree but thats what i would do

or even just put a bit of sealer on your old gasket, preferably black, would save you a couple of pound on a new one

Quick question, is it just the 6 torx bolts and lift it off or do I have to remove the pipes attached to it aswell?

Might aswell just get a new one £14.97 from Eurocarparts, should be cheaper at gsf as I get 20% discount.

yes pull back the pipes as well, you need to take all screws out, just lift it with a flat head screw driver, go easy though, clean the whole thing, inside and out, you could even spray it while its off if you wanted lol dont tighten the screws to much though incase they snap

Got mine off ebay for a tenna
Pug want £180 for a brand new one
If you cant find one for the 206, other peugeot/citreon 2.0 hdi's have the save cover. Mines off a 406

yeah il have to take a wee look sometime, trying to sort out the ugly green interior at the min, its clashing with my half leather interior..... lol

might just be me being picky here but aint you meant to get the head skimmed aswell at an engineering place to allow for a good seal i did last time i changed one on a saxo?

It's not the head gasket it's only the rocker cover gasket, you only get your head skimmed if the engine has over heated and it's warped, the head is only aluminium and it can bend when over heated that's the only time it needs skimmed
