I purchased a 2001 2.0 hdi a few weeks ago which only came with 1 key which i think is non original and has no buttons. I thought i should get another key that starts the car just in case i lose the other one.I purchased a new non original key online which was cut by using the key code number and has the transponder fitted as well but will need programming.
The new key open's the doors and will bring the ignition lights on but will not start the car. I popped along to my local locksmith who said he could programme the new key transponder using the old one and he double checked that i purchased the right transponder-which i had,he programmed the new key but it would not start the car,so i went back and he tried again-but still would not start car.
The problem i have know is that the original key wont start the car anymore as well-the locksmith check my key and said it is working fine but i have been unable to start the car and had to be towed back home.
I have tried disconnecting the battery for a little while and also pressed the fuel cut off switch and checked fuses but still no luck, the car started fine just before i had the key programmed so i would say there's nothing wrong with the car.
Just wondered if anybody has got any ideas whats gone wrong please any help would be much appreciated.

well, coding the key without connecting to the ECU is the doggy way to do things.....

easiest way is to resyn all keys with the ECU again; and hope he didn't ruin your new chip

BSI key memory has been erased, when you attempt to code a key it erases ALL keys from the memory.

You also need the 4 digit alphanumeric security code on the blue plastic card to code keys on a 206.

Keys need coding correctly with Peugeot Planet.

Thanks for all the quick replys,i did phone a Auto locksmiths who said he could come to me and supply me with new key and programme to the car for £65 maybe thats the best solution, just to add the locksmith never asked me for my immobilliser code which did make me think at the time that maybe he wasn't doing it right.

There is nothing wrong with cloning keys BUT the ID needs to be a genuine Philips Crypto and cloned with something like Zedbull. Sounds like you've tried cloning a China chip and its corrupted both of them.

I purchased the key online from a company called Car Key Help and the key i purchased was T29 Transponder (Philips Crypto ID45) which is the same as the original one,as you say it might be a poor quality one.

That's where you have gone wrong.

You can copy the ID45 to a T29, but it erases the ID45 coding. And obviously the clone wasn't successful as neither key works.

You only have a partial copy, and you need to program with dealer equipment to add a HF key as the codes embed in each other for security.

So would i be waisting my money getting an Auto Locksmith to program and supply a new key ?
Would you have thought the Locksmith would have known this imformation because he said he has programmed many Peugeot keys before.
