it was behind the glovebox which i took apart to get into my heater motor... was just sorta hanging there... didnt run with heating or anything when i turned it on...

Should be connected to dash, behind the passenger airbag. You can see the holes it sits behind.

it was just hanging down... is it important... its like a wee motor type thing... should i be worried by the fact it wasnt attached to anything, but hanging loose?

It clips behind the airbag. It goes where the 'vent' thing is next to where it says "AIRBAG"
Don't be worried, they always hang loose.
