Has anyone had a remap with 98 or 99 octane and compared it to having a remap whilst running normal fuel? woul like to know because I'll be getting my 180 remapped in a month or two but unsure whether to bother mapping it with 98 octane or not

Iv been reading up and apparently the 180 (aswell as most other 206's) are mapped from the factory so they can run lower octane fuels in other countries, so I was think if I re mapped it to run on tesco 99 octane I could maybe get a little bit more power, seriously considering doing it now as an experiment , on a twingo 133 forum a guy had his twingo mapped with a new filter and exhaust running 95 octane, which then produced 139 bhp, the guy that remapped it for him said he wasn't happy with the results so he should fill it with 98 octane and come back free of charge for another go... He did just that and the end result was 144bhp after filling up with shell v power so that's 5 bhp more just from using high octane fuel !! He has graphs to prove it aswell

The problem is with RR results like that are that there are so many variables that can affect the result..like if the air temp was cooler etc.
Most cars that are for the UK market are mapped to run on 95 as this is the most commonly sold petrol in the UK.
Personally when I had the pug I did run it on V-power because I had heard it kept your engine cleaner, how true that is i dont know.

I think this most people have their cars mapped to 99RON..could be wrong though.

Mine was done using 99, but I use it any way with my Tesco points it works out same as normal price as normal fuel.
Only get yours mapped on 99 If you normally use 99. running 95 when it's mapped on 99 will make it less efficient.

I was told by RS tuning that they "should" have been able to make my 180 reach 180BHP with a map, I had a Janspeed exhaust, de-cat and k&n panel filter, it ran 171BHP with these mods.

Iv dropped Kyle a message asking about what he used to get his power outputs , I'm thinking to get the full 180 bhp you need the car freshly serviced with new plugs etc and I also think chances are if the engine has say 60k + miles it'll have lost power

The Twingo 133 that has a turbo? Turbo's love a drop of 99! In fact most will be tuned on that from factory.

also i asume if you had it mapped on 99 octane then used 95 octane it wouldnt matter other than you would loose the 5bhp (if that was the case) with a non turbo i think it will make no difference really maybe 2 bhp at the most,
on a side note if you get your car mapped on hi octane fuel then use normal fuel could it cause hesitation on morning starts ect pulling away in 1st after initial start of the day, mine has been but i put some hi octane in the other day and its been fine so far

Do standard ECU`s not self learn thru the lambda sesor and re-mapp to the fuel octane to a certain degree..... I know very little about the standard ECU but it makes sense if there is an lambda
