Hi can anyone help..... My partners DV6 needs a re-gen as the Unblock Diesel Filter has come up. Ive scanned it with Planet and the only code come up is P1351 for the Glow plugs (I tested the pre-heat relay with Planet). It covers loads of miles and has been been re-generating fine on long runs in the past (she has owned it 2 years), the additive tank is 3/4 full and as far as I know it just needs a set of plugs to aid a re-gen? Can anyone tell me how hard this is to change them? I know they are under the airbox and can only be done with the engine up to temp to get them out without snapping. My dilemma would be changing them and it not regenerating! Another problem is the Mot is next week and one of the straps has snapped on the backbox (s**te rusted steel built to fail strap) and have yet to find an exhaust place that wont change the whole box at £100 hope some can help on these matters!

I had my glow plugs fail on me, i suggest you dont put off replacing them, as far as i'm aware, pretty much the only time they are used is in the regen process. When you remove the airbox, there's stuff in the way still, it looks like a pig of a job. I've adjusted torsion bar on mine and an assortment of other things, i left the glow plugs to a proper mechanic, just because of the lack of room etc.

Regarding your backbox, i'm breaking my car, the backbox is less than 6 months old. If you're interested i'll sell it to you for £25 plus P&P, let me know if you're interested and i'll get you some pictures.

Squeaker- that's great news mate I would be well interested in the back box! I have a hdi gti and was going to swap the back box just for the mot as I can't justify 100 just because a metal strap failed! It would need to come off to be welded because of the fuel tank etc could you send me some pictures? Thanks for the info on the plugs I'm going to get someone else on it, I had the dpf off my gti to steam clean it-never again! I can't be bothered to hunt down 8mm nuts from the glow plugs I'm bound to lose them!
