Okay, I know the rough differences, but this question is re performance. I am talking about 206 GTI and 206 GTI 180 unmodified, so both standard. No Janspeed exhausts, manifolds, etc, I'm trying to compare standard models.
Firstly, it seems as though the 180's are double the price of the standard GTI when selling nowadays. You can get low mileage examples for both but the 180 is double the price.
However, I feel as though there isn't much difference between them, performance wise, which questions whether the 180 is actually worth upwards of £2,000 (in comparison to the GTI 138) which they are selling for at the moment.
138hp v 165 approx hp (because 180s come in lower so I've read)
8.3 sec v 7.5 sec 0-60s (in a drag race this wouldn't be that noticable)
Top speed 130 v 137 (it's hardly anything, not that you'd reach those speeds anyway)
Is anyone in a position to be able to compare the two performance wise. I suspect that whilst the GTI 180 is clearly more powerful, it wouldn't "leave the GTI standing" and so is it really worth the extra money? If any of you have raced or experienced a race (on track, private road, whatever) between a GTI 138 and GTI 180, what really is the difference?
This question has been spurred on by the vast number of people/posts wanting to up the power of the 180, and that the 180 is a tuned version of the 138 so I have read. But it is really that much quicker...
