My 180 gti is due a cambelt change and was wandering were the best place to get the kit from was apart from peugeot as they'll rape my wallet no doubt! whats everyone else put on theirs? and can u buy the whole lateral arm for the rear?

Also jacket it up, remove the arms, take it gor a test drive, see of it still knocks.
Then check to see of exhaust hits them?
Most proberbly the bushes need replacing.

i got sutton auto factors around me just not had a good time with them with there parts ebay maybe cheaper and as good or better quality !!!

mine is on 41000 miles and hasn't had its cambelt change yet, most people say 50-60k miles but some say as early as 40. i don't have a handbook and as you lot own the same car, can anyone advise when to change it?

i was told 52k or 4 yrs so if yours has never been done i would get it done asap due to the age.

im pretty sure for the 180 its 80k when its due for a change! its goin into the garage thursday to get the belt, pulleys and waterpump! £250 all in! well chuffed with that!

Timing belts have a mileage & also a time change interval.

Whichever one of those comes FIRST is when the belt should be replaced.

The rubber in the belt degrades with time & that's why manufacturers state a time limit on the belts service life span.

Well said mr bsi

Also people must take into account when deciding whoever or not to change the water pump at the same time , that if your car is low mileage but you change the belt due to age chances are the water pump will be still in very good nick due to the fact you may have done barely and miles, unlike the belt which perishes over time the pump won't be effected over time as much as the effect of mileage ,if this makes sense.
And the new water pump needs to be of a good standard or it will probably be only just as good as the old pump and might not even last as long as the original water pump Smile
